I was 32 when I started cooking; up until then, I just ate. --Julia Child
This weekend Chris and I visited a store called Chef Central and I crossed a lot of the "batterie de cuisine" and kitchen tools needed for my project off the list! I'll probably head over to Williams Sonoma today (it's down the block) and pick up a few more things, but here's what I got:
-Rotissoire (roasting/lasagna pan)
-Mandoline
-Food mill
-Potato ricer
-Immersion blender
-Poultry lacer/twine
-Deep fryer/candy thermometer
-Kitchen shears
-And the MOST expensive (?) item on the list: a Chinois (for straining stocks, etc. --and maybe a party hat?)
I also bought a ravioli mold, cheese slicer, new wooden spoon, water bottle, and a nifty replacement knob for my Le Creuset dutch oven that allows it in oven temperatures up to 500 degrees. The black one that came with it, only allows for 350 degrees.
I still need a Rondeau (low stockpot for sauces and braises), a 4 qt sauce pan, a deep fryer pot, fish tweezers, a crepe pan, a sizzle pan, and a few attachments for my mixer. But, I have pretty much everything else already!
I can't wait to get started--so, better go and hit the books!
